Finally made it to Dubai

Well this has certainly turned into an adventure. The day we flew into BIAP (Baghdad International Airport) the security company decided to strike- seems the employees weren't getting paid. Sooo, I got to sit at Camp Victory for a couple of days of "hurry up and wait". With the backlog of folks there, getting onto a computer or finding an available telephone was next to impossible.

After several false starts and folks being on edge we finally flew into Dubai last night. Once here, we got more bad news- there were very few available flights to the States because this is the busiest time of the year for travel in the States. I may get out of here in the next day or two or I may not- I may have to wait until after the fourth to fly. They are deciding whether we will get paid for our standby time or not; all I can say is that I hope I get paid for sitting around waiting- this is not how I planned to spend my vacation.

To those who I had plans with I apologize, there's not much I can do about the situation. I'm using the hotel's internet (with a screwy keyboard) and will try to check my mail every day.

Man I hope flight opens up soon.........
