Wow, another carepackage!

I got the motherload of care packages yesterday. Cookies galore- including my favorite Newman's Own Organics. I also got a Frisbee and some sandbox toys (cute idea mom). There was an issue of Canoe and Kayak magazine and a Backpacker Magazine. Of course both had water on the cover, something that is in short supply around here. I'm really missing my Kayak- David I hope you're getting good use out of mine!
I've got a Dagger Magellan stored with a friend. It's a really easy boat to paddle and quite responsive for a plastic boat. I know I'm going to miss my house on the lake. There's nothing like being able to drop the boat in the water whenever you want and go paddling. The tranquility of the lake on a weekday evening with the sun slowly setting, fish breaking the water, and herons looking for a place to spend the night is hard to beat. Our lake was drawn way down for maintenance on the dam so there was a lot of places that powered boats couldn't go. I always wanted to laugh at the fisherman in expensive bass boats who couldn't get half as close to the fish as I could; many was the time that I slowly paddled through the weeds and watched fish swim lazily under my hull. With no motor noise and very little water displaced, it generally didn't concern the fish as I passed nearby.
I tried to sleep in later today but the honey truck woke me up. Nothing like being woken up by the septic pumper draining the septic tank. Oh well, I needed to get up anyways. I did some crunches and push ups then took a shower, dropped my laundry off, and went to work. I forgot to pick my laundry up this afternoon so I'll have to get it tomorrow. Nothing like dropping your laundry off and getting it back cleaned and folded.
Tomorrow is mail day and I plan to mail my flag home to my grandfather. I hope he enjoys it.
I registered for on-line continuing education yesterday also. I completed three of the easier programs just to get a feel for the setup. I have to admit it, the programs were pretty good and informative- I actually feel like I learned something more about acid/base reactions in the body. For $60 I get unlimited access to the site which has probably 60 CEUs. National Registry won't let me use but 24 (I think) but the rest is good practice. Doug, if you're reading this it's not a bad site and the quizzes at the end of each section are pretty well written.
The temperature has routinely been above 120F during the day now and it feels like it. The high temperatures create more wind which blows the fine dust around. Sunglasses become a necessity for sun and dust protection; wrap around sunglasses like Wiley Xs and Oakleys are immensely popular, especially the Wiley Xs with their foam eye cups. Along with the winds, we get some pretty spectacular dust devils.
Keep the emails coming, I'll reply when I can.
