...participated in in-coming fire mission.

21:00hrs
I have to admit it, I was scared for a second.  The thought briefly crosed my mind to crawl under my desk but I decided the bunker was a better idea.

There was a blast outside the berm a ways; that didn't raise much concern, but the shriek of a rocket passing overhead was another story.  Yeah, I know what I said earlier about if you could hear the rocket it meant it was still going, but let's see your reaction when it passes overhead.  It's certainly not the first one I've heard, but it was the closest.  You could hear when it struck a conex and bounced off, another dud round thank goodness.  We sat in the bunkers for an hour and a half; I just walked back into the office to start writing this entry.

We figured we were about due to participate in an incoming fire mission.  They seem to hit about every six days.  They fire two or three rounds and run.  There's been a increase in activity around northern Iraq lately (I watch the news too).

There was an explosion in town this morning and another explosion on the other side of town later in the morning.  We heard about the big bomb in Bagdad shortly after it happened.

On a happier note, Chris and I went and took some more pictures to send off.  We had to go out to the ponds to do a vehicle damage report so we checked out the ponds and the carp.  I re-evaluated a patient's cough.  We made rounds with the BAS PA.  As if all that wasn't enough excitement for the day, the D-Fac had chocolate pie for dessert.  Mmmmm good.
