Living and working as a Paramedic in Iraq.

Thursday, July 22, 2004

Alright, let’s try this again. I tried to post last night and Blogger timed out and deleted it. It really made me mad after I took the time to write it down. It wasn’t important, but it took me a few minutes. I hate our internet service; I'm spoiled I know, but my dial up at home was more reliable.

Pictures!
I used the basic webpage software on the website to add a few pictures. Don’t go getting excited, but here it is:

-Notice how angry the Iraqis are, they obviously hate Americans and wish we would leave.

-The beer is nonalcoholic (notice the letters NA under the name) and the mortars had stopped falling already.

-There’s a shot of our pimpin’ ride too.

I’m working on a better site (Thanks for the info Karen), but that will have to do for now.

I saw more TCNs yesterday. Tuesday it was fungal infections, Wednesday it was ears; one gentleman had an ear infection and we got that cleared up, but he’s got some Tinnitus. He operates the honey truck (porta-john service truck) and I think the pump on it is still bothering his ear so I’ll pick up a set of earmuffs for him today.

TCNs are Third Country Nationals- people from countries other than Iraq or the US.

HCNs are Home Country Nationals- the Iraqis

Expats are expatriots- people from the US

The Philipinos have a medic in their camp, but he used to work in the laundry and has only had first aid training. He’s a quick study though and had a Mosbey’s Paramedic book to read. He comes to see us whenever he has a question and we have a good working relationship. The Indian’s have a “Male Nurse”; he’s a certified nurse in India. The Turks, Maltans, Bosnians, etc don’t have a medic and come to us when they have a problem. They’re always polite and thankful for the assistance. Technically, we aren’t allowed to see them, but you can’t stand by and not.

Wow, Gone daddy gone- when was the last time you heard the Violent Femmes on the radio? Actually, it's internet radio and you can find all kind of stations- this one's true alternative, not that crap that the commercial radio stations try to pass off on an audience that think they're hip for listening to it. Columbia radio stations suck! WUSC is the only station that does anything new and fresh sounding.
