messenger

For anybody that's interested, I added Yahoo Instant messenger to my computater (it's slow like a spud). "sandboxmedic" is the screen name. I also have an address and a phone number:

If you want it, email me

I've decided that laptop computers are a pain in the butt. While they certainly have advantages, I HATE the keyboard size. I wear a 44 sportcoat (hey now, my waist is still a 36), my shoulders are broad, I need a regualr keyboard. It's on my list of things to order next time we order computer stuff. I've been reading over some of the stuff I've typed and is it bad! and that's after I catch a lot of the typos!

More pictures.
I took pictures on the convoy to Speicher yesterday. (Did I write this already?) I wish my digital camera was faster. I have the Olympus here with me, but it has a moving lens and I'm worried about the dust getting in it. I got pictures of a sheepherder, the arches outside Tikrit, some dude in robes, some trucks......... I just wish I could stop the truck and wander around taking pictures for a day. we have to keep the windows up and of course they're dirty.

Color is where you find it. This country is pretty barren- sand, beige, brown..... it's all sandblasted, sand covered, sand colored. The locals, especially the truck drivers, like to decorate their trucks. They use whatever colors they can find including colored pieces of tape. They make their own spinners for the wheels. They tie feathers to the antenae or the side view mirrors. They put religeous icons on the dash. They put fabric strips along the windshield. In a bleak landscape, color is where you find it.......... or make it.

Speaking of deja vu, I mentioned that I couldn't remember if I had mentioned the photos. Chris and I have to remind each other what we did each day. We have watches, computers, the Stars and Stripes occasionally, etc. but the days run together. I can't explain it, but they just melt into each other. We have schedules, but with no break in the work week, it's hard to keep up with what day it is.

We've been thinking about buying remote control cars. Some of the guys have R/C boats to run in the ponds, but I want a truck or buggy. The only paved surface on our base is the runway and it's got patches and debris on it all of the time. I'd like to get an R/C plane, but I think the military would have a problem with that. We can't get the fuel for a gas powered engine so whatever I get it has to be electric.

I ordered my SKED pack and my trauma bag today. The SKED pack is a large bag that carries lots of trauma stuff including drugs, you can treat multiple casualties out of it. The smaller trauma bag is just that, a trauma bag for smaller events.

I'm kinda thinking about just leaving the blogger page open during the day and inserting stuff as it pops into my head- I'll have to think about that......
