Land mines? Here?

Five AM in the morning and I'm asleep. The radio wakes me up as I hear someone saying that they've found a land mine near their hooch. What!? This area has been bulldozed so many times, and this was a horse ranch not a military base; the very thought of it is almost silly. I'm awake now and wondering what this guys been smoking. He proceeds to tell Ops (Operations) that there is a shiny spherical object on the ground in front of him. The night Ops guy is a little slow (I'm being nice), and doesn't seem to understand what he's being told so now there's a lot of radio traffic and everybody is probably awake. The site manager is definitely awake and asked him to describe it. Of course he hasn't gotten close to it and apparently hasn't even looked at it closely. There's a pause and then in a small voice you hear,

"Uhm, it's a Coke can. Sorry, I've been a little freaked out lately."

You can almost hear everybody groaning at being woken up. I went ahead and did some reading and then took my shower.

This is the same guy who called in a possible explosion but with no smoke earlier in the night. If anything hits the ground here there's at least dust. Turns out the the explosion was about 3/4 mile away towards town.

I got my external hard drive hooked up as well as the full sized keyboard.

Not much else going on......................
