Sandstorm

Wow! Remember the pictures of the invasion when they had the sandstorm and everything was reddish-orange? We had one of those today; it didn't last 72 hours though. It was really dark and bad for about an hour, but the wind is still blowing pretty bad. We of course had to go out in it to take pictures. The problem (with taking pictures anyways) was that the infrared beam for the autofocus couldn't focus with all of the sand so most of the pictures came out kinda blurry. Not that there was much you could see anyways.....

Everything is covered in sand now- it blew up through the cracks in the floor, it blew around the doors that don't seal well, it blew everywhere it could. My keyboard is gritty feeling as I type this. I'm in for a big day of cleaning tomorrow. I wore my Clemson shirt today that Chop and Karen sent me. I suppose it worked out well as everything else is orange now too! The Wiley-Xs that everybody makes fun of were worth their weight in gold.

Sean e-mailed me. He's downloading music now and promised to send me some good stuff. It's pretty amazing, I have over 10GB of music on my external hard drive, but most of it isn't what I normally listen to. I've been begging music off friends (convert them to Windows media files and you can get a lot on a disc). Everybody thinks that the Parliament is pretty wild! Funk baby! Thanks again Chop.

I was going to write a piece about my brother last night but changed my mind. I actually wrote it, I just didn't post it. I'm trying to help dude, let's just leave it at that.

Sean told me that I should write more about my family, myself, my friends, etc. but as this is an open forum and I've had some people I don't know e-mail me, I think I'll leave it kind of generic. That's not to say that anyone has been freaky, just I'm kind of cautious like that.

I'll give you some background on me though: I'm thirty six and have been a medic now for over ten years. I got into this job quite by accident and I suppose I stayed in it due largely to apathy. I have also worked as an Environmental Consultant before getting into EMS and since then to. I have a BS in Wildlife Biology from Clemson University (go Tigers!). Never been married, no kids, and yes, I'm straight.

My hobbies include camping, hiking, photography, shooting, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, etc. If you can do it outdoors, I've probably tried it (I chickened out when Eric and I went to bungie jump- Eric jumped). I also enjoy cooking as well as good beer and wine. I miss cooking oysters and drinking beer with my friends- we'll have a big roast at some point guys, my treat.

Is that enough Sean or you need more? I suppose it adds depth to the blog, for what it's worth. If you're still wondering if I'm real, try posting a comment or just e-mail. I try to get back to everybody even if it's not the most timely. Remember I am working and our internet is a little finicky sometimes.

One of the medics that I went through Houston is demobbing at the end of the month. He's grown frustrated with the situation and has had enough. I wish you the best Steve! Keep in touch.

Well I ought to go see how bad my room looks- I know I'm going to have to clean so I better get going.
